Applying at KwaZulu-Natal College of Nursing 2026 Intake (KZNCN)

KZN College of Nursing (KZNCN) has opened applications for the Diploma in Nursing (R171) for the 2026 academic year. This public nursing college is run by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health and is fully recognized by SANC, CHE, SAQA, and DHET.

With 11 campuses and sub-campuses across the province, KZNCN gives students the chance to study close to home while preparing for a career as a professional nurse.

Programs Offered At KwaZulu-Natal College of Nursing

KZNCN provides a range of nursing programs to cater to different career aspirations:

Diploma in Nursing (R171): A three-year full-time program leading to a qualification registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the Diploma in Nursing (R171) program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Academic Qualifications:

• National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a Diploma/Bachelor endorsement.

• Minimum 25 APS points, calculated according to the approved point system.

• Passes in the following subjects:
  
  

• English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4

• Life Sciences: Level 4

• Mathematics: Level 3 or Mathematics Literacy: Level 4

• Life Orientation: Level 4

• Two other subjects to bring the total APS score to 27 or higher.
  
  

Additional Requirements:

• Must be a South African citizen.

• Must reside in KZNl Province.

• Clear criminal record.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit the following certified copies:

1. South African Identity Document (ID).

2. National Senior Certificate 

3. Proof of residence in KwaZulu-Natal (e.g., utility bill or affidavit).
